RYA Competent Crew

Spend five unforgettable days living aboard a yacht as you explore the harbours and anchorages of the IJsselmeer and Waddenzee. Weather permitting, you’ll also set out on a longer coastal passage, giving you a real taste of life at sea.

Over the week you’ll learn the fundamentals of crewing — from handling sails and taking the helm to tying knots, understanding nautical terms and settling into life on board. With no more than five students per yacht, our fully qualified skippers ensure you receive individual attention and plenty of hands-on experience.

Safety underpins everything we do. You’ll be shown how and when to use flares, lifejackets, safety harnesses and liferafts, practise man-overboard recovery, and take part in a night sail to build your confidence in different conditions.

By the end of the course you won’t just know the basics — you’ll feel at home on the water, ready to sail as a competent and confident crew member. On successful completion you’ll also be awarded the internationally recognised RYA Competent Crew certificate.
