During the Competent Crew course, you will spend five days aboard a yacht, visiting the harbours and anchorages of the IJsselmeer and Waddenzee.
If the weather permits, you will also complete a longer coastal passage.
You will learn the fundamentals of crewing, such as knots, nautical terms, sail handling and helming, as well as how to live on a cruising yacht.
With a maximum of five students per course, your fully qualified skippers will provide plenty of individual attention.
Safety is a priority in all our courses. You will learn how and when to use flares, life-jackets, safety harnesses, life rafts, how to assist in the recovery of a man overboard, and participate in at least one night sailing.
At the end of the five days, you will have become a competent and confident member of the crew and be awarded an RYA Competent Crew certificate.
