Welcome On Board

Welcome On Board

After you have made your online booking, chosen your dates and made either the deposit payment or full payment, we will send you a personal introduction and thank you via WhatsApp. :)

This is then followed up by the confirmation email. A disclaimer and request for medical info is included in this email, which we kindly request is completed and returned to us before the start of your sailing course. Whichever level or type of sailing training you have opted for, these personal details are necessary.

As your course date nears, we will send you a reminder and ask if you have any questions or concerns regarding your forthcoming course.

We will include directions to the harbour and suggestions for what to bring on board.

On the morning of your course, you are welcomed on board by our instructor.

Introductions are made to the other students on board and then you are offered refreshments.

It’s a great way to ease yourself into the beginning of this new environment.

Have a cup of tea or coffee, sit up on deck and inhale the fresh sea air!!

Your instructor will give you a summary of what to expect from the weather during your course and suggestions on the route.

There is a safety briefing, including a demonstration on how to wear the life jackets and affix life lines.  A more detailed safety briefing including how to operate the fire extinguishers and how to make distress calls will be made shortly after.

You will then be guided around the boat and shown how to operate the toilet (head) efficiently, shown how to store your personal items and  which bed is yours in the cabin.

We supply fresh sheet, pillow and pillow case to our students. Should you forget to bring a sleeping bag, which can happen, we do have a spare or two to lend out from our workshop nearby.

There will be a demonstration of how to use the gas oven, how to make a cup of tea when the boat is rocking, what to do if you feel seasick and how the rotation of meals is worked out !

So this introduction is a very nice pause to find out who is looking to improve their man overboard skills, who finds mooring up a challenge or who, for the evening meal, has a special recipe that they would like to prepare for the crew!

Once you step on board, you are part of a team and it can be a very rewarding and companionable opportunity to make new friends.

As a team, we share cooking and drink making facilities and keeping the boat ship shape is one of the fun duties to do together!! :)
