Training Course Information
Mid-Week Courses
- Monday: Students step on board around 10am
- Friday: The course finishes around 5.30pm
Weekend Courses
- Saturday: Students step on board around 10am
- Sunday: The course finishes around 5.30pm
Students to Instructor Ratio
- 5/1 maximum on all practical courses and sail training
What to bring
We suggest that you bring the following items;
- For colder weather we recommend a waterproof jacket, fleece top, hat, funnel scarf, thick socks,
- Trousers (not jeans as they take too long to dry),thermal long johns and vest together with layers of clothing such as, t-shirt, shirt, fleece.
- Sailing boots are advisable along with deck shoes or non marking trainers.
- A pair of cheap slippers for the public showers is also advisable.
- For warmer weather please bring a sunhat, sunglasses, sun cream, insect repellent, shorts, t-shirts
- Swim wear.
- Please remember to pack your necessary medications, especially if you're prone to seasickness.
- A current identity card or passport is required
- Your own sleeping bag, towel and personal toiletries
- Phone charger
- Please bring your personal items in a soft holdall as onboard storage is limited
Accommodation
- We have three double cabins and it may be necessary to share a cabin
- Solo female students will not be required to share a cabin unless there is another female student on board
- We supply a fresh sheet, pillow and pillow case. Please remember to bring you own sleeping bag and towel
- Kitchen linen is supplied
Catering Arrangements
- Breakfast, snacks, lunch, drinks and dinner are all within the course fee and are supplied on board
- The instructor and crew all participate in preparing meals and keeping the boat ship shape
Marina Fees
Mooring fees, marina fees, harbour expenses, diesel and gas are all inclusive of the course fee
Prior Experience
To ensure successful completion of the course, the RYA mandates sufficient knowledge and documented experience.
For instance, the Day Skipper practical course necessitates prior attainment of RYA Competent
Crew level, along with a minimum of 5 days at sea, covering 100 nautical miles, and at least 4 hours of night sailing.

You will require an RYA Syllabus & Logbook G158 for your course.
