How does MOSS use your data?

We have a few scenarios where we collect your data to help process your order, or to help us find ways to improve the service that we offer you:

Visiting our Website

When you visit our website we use little pieces of data, called cookies, to anonymously track your use of our website. We use this information to understand what content our visitors like reading, which device people are using and other information which help us make your experience more enjoyable. You are asked to accept the use of cookies on our website when you first visit. Our analytics are anonymous, as we don’t match this data to IP addresses, orders or email addresses. We do not collect information about what you specifically looked at on our website, only the aggregated data of what people in general do, such as page views. Also, this is only whilst you are on our website, and not whilst browsing other websites.

Ordering and Booking Courses

We collect your email, phone number and other information needed to comply with the RYA standards. We use this information to communicate with you about the status and notification of your course as well as sending information about your course to you.

Using our forms

All forms on MOSS-Sailing.com are built and processed by Webflow and fall under their regulation. When you fill out and send a form, the information you send is stored upon the MOSS Sailing Webflow account and an email is sent to info@moss-sailing.com. We use the stored data in webflow as a backup (in the event of an email outage) while the email is used as a means to communicate to the sender said message.

Online Courses

To enable access to your online course we need to share some of your personal data with the RYA via your user profile in www.ryainteractive.org. This learning management website is hosted and maintained by a third party called Learning Pool, who will not use your personal information for any reason other than enabling your course. Your name and email address will be entered on www.ryainteractive.org in order to create your user account.

On your first access to the site, you will be asked to enter your address and date of birth. You will have access to the site for one year in order to complete your online course. During this period, your personal information will be held on the website by Learning Pool and be available to this training centre and the RYA for the purpose of managing your course. Instructional support will be provided by this training centre for a period of one year from the date of your course booking.

On completion of your course, your name, email, date of birth and address will be transferred to the RYA's central database for the purpose of recording details of the course and any certification you gain as a result of it. This information allows the RYA to record your certification, to update any records they may already hold about you or your qualifications and to verify your certificate if required. After one year from the date of your enrolment on the course, your user account will be removed from www.ryainteractive.org. Full details of how the RYA will deal with your personal information will be displayed when you first access www.ryainteractive.org.
In short, to use the RYA Online system we have to share the needed data with the RYA.
