About this course

The course for the beginning sailor to learn the basics and to enjoy the delight of sailing aboard a cruising yacht, also an ideal stepping stone for dinghy sailors to try yachting and for those who have already done some crewing but wish to learn the right way.

At the end of the 5 days you will have become a competent and confident member of the crew.

You will be taught the fundamentals of crewing such as knots, nautical terms, sail handling and helming, as well as how to "live" in the environment of a cruising yacht.

During the Start Crewing course you will spent all 5 days aboard the yacht visiting the many harbours and anchorages of the IJsselmeer and Waddenzee and if the weather permits, complete a longer coastal passage.

With maximum 5 students per course, your fully qualified skippers will devote plenty of time to your individual needs.

Safety is paramount in all our courses and you will learn how and when to operate flares, life-jackets, safety harnesses, life rafts, how to assist in the recovery of a man overboard and participate in at least one night sailing.

At the end of the course you will be a valuable asset to any crew you join.

It was a challenging experience, but was a blast once I got the hang of it. I wish I would have done it the next day as well.
