Sailing from Holland to the Channel Islands is one of our most tidal challenges and therefore a great experience for anyone who would love to improve their skills in working with tidal curves, tidal stream almanacs and secondary port calculations.

We set off from Medemblik and follow the North Sea canal through the hart of Amsterdam onto the North Sea with a stop in IJmuiden. From there we will sail offshore following the Dutch and Belgium coastline non stop through the Dover Straight into the English channel. The Alderney race is the entrance into the Channel Islands and must be timed correctly to take the strong current towards St Peter Port in Guernsey.

On the return trip we will make several stops into the beautiful small harbours of Northern France which are excellent tidal challenges. A lovely meal in one of the local restaurants is a great reward to finish the day.

The total distance covered will be approximately 850 miles and all candidates will have the opportunity to skipper the yacht and improve their skills under guidance of our qualified instructor.
